Applewood Manor House Cookies
The recipe my B&B guests asked for at every checkout.
When we bought Applewood Manor, my husband insisted on one thing. That I make his favorite cookies and put the each guest room. I put a package of 4 cookies, but the guests always wanted more, so we sold the cookies in packs of 6. And it is the recipe that was most asked for by our guests.
The story behind my cookies.
Everyone has their idea of the perfect cookie, for my family it's crispy and chewy but never cakey. My recipe is a basic chocolate chip cookies recipe with a few techniques that give it the crispy/chewy texture, with 2 types of chocolate chips and the "secret" ingredient (toffee bits). I never thought it was such a big deal, but when I made these cookies for my family everyone would eat them until our stomach hurt. My husband called them "crack" cookies because he couldn't stop eating them.
For the bed and breakfast, I make the dough and using an ice cream scoop, I make balls and put them on a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Then I freeze the balls and keep the frozen cookie balls in a plastic bin in the freezer. This way, we can take out 6 cookies and not overeat them. This is also the method I used so that each guest would have freshly baked cookies upon arrival..
